i am a weapon of massive consumption.

The Fear - Lily Allen Music Code

I want to be rich and I want lots of money
I don’t care about clever I don’t care about funny
I want loads of clothes and fuckloads of diamonds
I heard people die while they are trying to find them

I’ll take my clothes off and it will be shameless
Cause everyone knows that’s how you get famous
I’ll look at the sun and I’ll look in the mirror
I’m on the right track, yeah, I’m on to a winner

Life’s about film stars and less about mothers
It’s all about fast cars and passing each other
But it doesn’t matter cause I’m packing plastic
And that’s what makes my life so fucking fantastic

And I am a weapon of massive consumption
And its not my fault, it’s how I’m program to function
I’ll look at the sun and I’ll look in the mirror
I’m on the right track, yeah, I’m on to a winner

Forget about guns and forget ammunition
Cause I’m killing them all on my own little mission
Now I’m not a saint but I’m not a sinner
Now everything is cool as long as I’m getting thinner

I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore
I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore
When we think it will all become clear
Cause I’m being taken over by the fear

see? it does have a point.

I now have a reason as to why i should keep my Tumblr account, despite everyone else saying it's as useless, as, well, nevermind: I love posting them audio files. WEE. Haha. Yes oh yes, I'm loving the cassette thingy. It's so... so... so... cool. :))

And so I now share with you my newfound LSS, the Glee cast's version of Don't Stop Believing.

Enjoy. :)

no one on the corner got swagger like us.

Paper Planes - M.I.A. Music Code

I fly like paper, get high like planes
If you catch me at the border I got visas in my name
If you come around here, I make ‘em all day
I get one down in a second if you wait

Sometimes I think sitting on trains
Every stop I get to I’m clocking that game
Everyone’s a winner now we’re making that fame
Bonafide hustler making my name

Pirate skulls and bones
Sticks and stones and weed and bombs
Running when we hit ‘em
Lethal poison through their system

No one on the corner has swagger like us
Hit me on my burner prepaid wireless
We pack and deliver like UPS trucks
Already going hell just pumping that gas

M.I.A.
Third world democracy
Yeah, I got more records than the K.G.B.
So, uh, no funny business

All I wanna do is BANG BANG BANG BANG!
And KKKAAAA CHING!
And take your money...

lol-ing, the may edition.

You are surprised in early May. You have uncovered pieces of your past that help you better understand yourself. Perhaps you made a discovery about your parents' youth or recalled something buried that happened when you were a small child. Suddenly, it all makes sense. Having this knowledge will liberate you from certain constraints that you have long known were holding your back. Reaffirmation of self worth will be a byproduct. Need to talk to somebody about this? An elder in your family would offer sound guidance. If nobody wants to discuss it, get thee to a therapist. There are times in everybody's life when they need to talk things over with a neutral third party who has experience lifting people out of denial or helping them over a hurdle. Never deny yourself that luxury. Beware of an indecisive Libra around the 20th. I think this concerns someone you work with or perhaps they are part of your choral group or evening class. They will be going back on a promise that they made to you. A rift in your relationship could ensue. Do speak up and defend yourself now. All too often you lower your standards for people out of a desire to accommodate their faults. This time, draw the line! Reading will become an integral part of your life again in May. You hadn't realized how long you had been neglecting books. An urge to go to the library, take out some books and stick your nose inside. The urge to read becomes a passionate desire at the end of May.

Family issues crop up in May for Horses. You have known for some time that trouble was brewing in the domestics of a brother, sister or close relative. One of the people in the couple in question will come to you for sympathy. Their complaints about their better half could be legitimate. You may even feel very sorry for them. However, unless you are a lawyer, and they want to hire you as their mouthpiece, keep your counsel. Obviously, you like the couple each in her or his own way and can probably see both sides of the various problems they have. But what you don't know is that as soon as Portia has walked out the front door, Jeff will come walking in the back to air his grievances. Couples have a way of using friends and family members as sounding boards. That evening, they will have another of their monumental rows, and if you have commented, she will say so, and he will come back with what you told him about her. Be careful. Taking sides is a good way to lose two good friends in the same divorce. Business for you should be thriving now. Your colleagues may not have not been very cooperative in the past few weeks, so you may be feeling a tad uneasy about the focus of your current projects. Why not invite a few key people to a simple bistro dinner, order a bottle of good wine and talk the whole matter through? Often what looks like lack of team work is due to a breakdown in communications.

one big phail-ure.

Aww. That sucks, man.

only because i found this, uh, interesting. haha.

THE PERFECT GIRLFRIEND.

Yes, she exists. And NO, she's not the supermodel type with the long legs and perfect skin. She's even better. She's the type of girl you'd overlook--she'd be your last choice. At worst she's insecure, clingy, shallow, jealous, nagging, sensitive, emotional, dramatic, and annoying. But if you can't handle her at her worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve her at her best.

What is a perfect girlfriend? They say there’s no such thing as perfection, and that she doesn’t exist.

Oh trust me, SHE DOES.

She dresses up all cute and pretty every time you take her out on a date. This is her way of keeping you interested as your eyes are locked solely on her. You stare at other girls instead, and she gets hurt and upset that all her time and effort were put to waste.

You call her insecure.

She holds on to you like she’s never letting you go. This is her way of telling other girls that she’s lucky that she has you, and no, you’re not available.

You call her clingy.

She calls you the sweetest nicknames, or ones that only you two will understand. This is her way of saying how special you are, and that there’s nobody else in this world like you. You call other girls “babe” just as how you would call her, and she gets disappointed.

You call her shallow and jealous.

She checks up on you, making sure you made it home safely or that you’re not out getting yourself into any kind of trouble. This is her way of showing how often she thinks about you and that she worries constantly because that’s how much she cares.

You say she’s nagging.

She cries when you do or say something wrong. This is her way of saying “That hurt only because YOU said it and I love YOU.”

You call her overly sensitive and emotional.

She loves you more than you love her. This is her way of dealing with the fact that your relationship wasn’t like how it used to be, but she is willing to make room for more love and some changes. You push her away.

You call her dramatic and annoying.

So go ahead. Leave the insecure, clingy, jealous, nagging, overly sensitive, annoying girl. She will soon be much happier in the arms of someone who actually deserves her: the perfect boyfriend.

Condi: Kofi.

George: All right! With cream and two sugars. Now get on the phone.

define, define.

The Dilemma:
You’re proud to be all three of these supposed insults! But you’re wondering if one captures your brilliant essence better than the others.

People You Can Impress: well, not cool kids, certainly. Face it—we’re never going to impress those jerks.

The Quick Trick: Etymologically, geek probably equals carny, nerd probably equals Seussian animal, and dork probably equals what you might have called President Nixon if you were his close friend.

The Explanation:

All three of these words are now used interchangeably to refer to someone who is undesirable due to a paucity of social skills and an excess of braininess. Fortunately, former middle-school punching bags have co-opted all three words, turning them from insults into badges of honor. But while the words have come to overlap in meaning, their etymologies couldn’t be more different. So for all those of us who’ve suffered such verbal barbs—and what proud mental_floss reader hasn’t?—here’s what they were really saying about you.

GEEK

Etymological Theory 1: Sometime in the early 19th century, the Scottish word geck, meaning “fool,” changed to geek and began being used to describe a certain kind of carnival performer. Geeks specialized in eating live animals, including biting the heads off live chickens.

Theory 2: Real etymology geeks trace the word geck all the way back to Shakespeare—see, for instance, “the most notorious geck” in Act V of Twelfth Night—and claim that we have the first great literature geek to blame for the word.

NERD

Theory 1: The first known appearance of the word is in Dr. Seuss’s 1950 If I Ran the Zoo, in which a character wants to collect “A Nerkle a Nerd and a Seersucker, too!” The theory goes that kids liked the ring of the word so much, they started using it derogatorily.

Theory 2: Some at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute claim that they coined the word knurd in the ’50s to describe kids who studied all the time (knurd being drunk spelled backward).

DORK

This time, there’s only one theory: The word dork originally meant “penis.” (Specifically, human penis.) Popularized in the ’60s, dork was probably derived from dirk, a penile name that was widely used until the short version of Richard became ubiquitous.

Old School Nerds
Before the words nerd and dork existed, there were still nerds and dorks. According to Dewdroppers, Waldos, and Slackers, a guide to 20th-century American slang, all these words have been used to describe the unpopular, undesirable, and generally square: wind sucker, dewdropper, Joe Zilch, dudd, pantywaist, oil can, stinkeroo, mullet, nose-bleed, roach, schnookle, kook, dimp, dorf, mince, squid, auger, and waldo.

thesis-ing theories, episode two.

Because anything that's got James Gabrillo written on it I hold sacred, here's I Have a Theory's second webisode:

thesis-ing theories.

What's yours?

I was going through my daily morning ritual of checking all of my social networking sites when I came across this in FB. Thinking it was a TV series I missed out on, I checked it out and - lo and behold - found out that I was partly correct. Hehe.

I Have a Theory turns out to be ISA orgmate Anna Canlas and partner Patti Lazatin's thesis, and I found out Sam Lee and buddy Caloy Soliongco helped and did a great job with the lights and cameras, as well as (happy crush) PD James Gabrillo - who blew me away with the set design. *big grin*

First webisode just came out today. Check out their website for more info.

The Pilot

i promise to drop it after this.

Sigh. I guess I'll have to wait.

Her World Dominatrix Jessica Zafra blogged about P&P&Z about a month ago, I just found out. It's a sign from my literary icon. I must get a copy of that book.

Unfortunately, I also just found out that it wouldn't be released (here in the Philippines, I think - wait, let me check on that) until May 13, 2009. Gah. That's like... 37 days away. Bummer.

Oh well. I must settle with Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon (which is taking me forever to finish), and Gregory Maguire's Wicked (which I really do doubt I'll be finish - or start, for that matter) for now.

Or I could get me a copy of JZ's The Flip Reader, and hunt down the eight issues they were able to release, before the magazine bit the dust. Read up on world domination this summer, eh?

Henyway.

I still haven't read the first three chapters of the book, because I fell asleep last night. Imma read it after I publish this post.

I read the first three chapters of the book. It was okay.

Henyway, anyway.

Here's a funny good morning post, from A Pinoy Blog About Nothing:

It's Called Sarcasm.

Enjoy.

mr. darcy meets resident evil.

And I thought this was just Photoshop-ed.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies features the original text of Jane Austen's beloved novel with all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie action. As our story opens a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace but she's soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead.

Belated birthday gift, anyone? *grin*
